CIEE - Spanish

VISION

Gordon's Department of Language and Linguistics recommends CIEE's programs for students minoring in Spanish.  (Note: These programs are approved ONLY for students minoring in Spanish.)

The locations available through CIEE are:

• Argentina
• Chile
• Spain

QUALIFICATIONS

Students wishing to apply for CIEE must:

• Have at least a Sophomore standing
• Be a Spanish minor
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (some GPA could 2.75 for some CIEE locations)
• Have the approval of their Spanish minor advisor for their location choice

CREDIT

Upon arrival, students take a placement exam. Students who place below the advanced level may be required to enroll in an additional language course for advanced or intermediate composition.
In general, students take a minimum of one required Spanish language course and four elective courses. These electives can include CIEE courses, regular university courses, and any offered. Students eligible to do so must take one regular university course.

COST

For a semester with CIEE a student is billed CIEE costs, along with a $150 Global Education administration fee. Applicable federal, state and private aid will apply, however, Gordon institutional aid is not carried over. Please contact the Global Education Office with any questions.

• Room and board (Note: in some CIEE programs, only two meals per day are covered)

Not covered:

• Flights to and from the program
• Personal expenses
• Local travel
• Course material

APPLICATION PROCEDURE & DEADLINES

All Gordon students applying to this program must first submit an online seat application to the Global Education Office before applying directly to your program. Fall and Spring semester seat applications must be submitted to the GEO by March 1.

After the Global Education Office has notified you of your approval, you may then proceed with CIEE's application. See your specific CIEE program's website for more information on applications and deadlines.
