Hold Steady in Hope: The recent work of Tim Timmerman

Tim Timmerman is a devoted maker and a professor of art at George Fox University in Newberg Oregon. He has taught college students how to make stuff for over twenty-five years. Tim received his MFA from Washington State University, and his BS from Biola University in Los Angeles. His work has been exhibited in over twenty-five solo shows from Washington D.C. to Southern California, and he has participated in over sixty invitational, juried, and group exhibitions nationally.
In addition to being an artist and professor, Tim has led over fifty experiential men’s weekends, is a humorist, sojourner, curator, writer, speaker, goodness seeker, storyteller, collector, truth hound and a steadfast friend, uncle and brother. A friend in High School gave him a button remarking, “This reminds me of you.” Tim has aimed to live out what it what was written on it ever since. The button said, “I love everybody, and you’re next.”

The Landscape Art of James Mullen

Born and raised in the rural environment of western New Jersey, James Mullen received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture and Printmaking from the University of New Hampshire in 1985. In 1986 he participated in the LaNapoule Summer Art Program, then completed his Master of Fine Arts in Painting at Indiana University in 1991. He has taught at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, the University of Evansville in Indiana, and since 1999 has taught at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, where he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art. Mullen has received numerous awards and scholarships including an Individual Artist Grant from the state of Georgia as well as Research Grants from both the University of Evansville and Bowdoin College. He has had over twenty solo exhibitions at venues including the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art in Augusta, GA, The Chattahoochie Valley Art Museum in LaGrange, GA, Artemisia Gallery in Chicago, IL , The Maine Center for Contemporary Art in Rockport, ME, and at Providence College in Rhode Island.

Each spring Gordon College Visual Arts presents Senior Exhibits in the Gallery at Barrington Center for the Arts. Senior art majors develop a body of work and a personal artistic direction culminating in a gallery exhibit their final semester. Each senior chooses the media and conceptual thematic center of this work while meeting weekly with a faculty mentor and fellow senior artists.
