Pat Gelsinger
CEO of VMWare
Pat Gelsinger was named CEO of VMware Sept 2012. VMware is the worldwide leader in virtualization, cloud and mobile infrastructure products. VMware now stands as the worlds 4th largest software company with 20,000 employees and is expected to reach $7B in ’16; an almost doubling of the company since he took over as CEO. Its products are literally ubiquitous used by 100% of the Fortune 500 and now serve over 500,000 customers globally. He is successfully leading VMware’s second act; taking it beyond its wildly successful server virtualization innovation to a broad set of cloud and mobile infrastructure solutions. VMware ranked as #40 on the Fortune Best places to work in ’16. It is well regarded in Silicon Valley for its Diversity, Community Service and Values driven culture.
Before joining VMware, Gelsinger led EMC's Information Infrastructure Products business as president and COO. Prior to EMC, Gelsinger spent 30 years at Intel, where he was the company’s first CTO and was the architect of the original 80486 processor.
Gelsinger earned an associate's degree from Lincoln Technical Institute in 1979, a bachelor's degree from Santa Clara University in 1983 (magna cum laude) and a master's degree from Stanford University in 1985, all in electrical engineering. In 2008 he was named a Fellow of the IEEE and awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters in 2008 from William Jessup University. He holds six patents in the areas of VLSI design, computer architecture and communications and is a well-known speaker on technology trends.
John Ortberg
Author, Speaker, and Pastor of Menlo Church
John Ortberg is an author speaker, and the senior pastor of Menlo Church in the San Francisco Bay Area. His books include, All the Places To Go; Soul Keeping; Who Is This Man?; The Life You’ve Always Wanted; Faith and Doubt; and more.
Born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, John graduated from Wheaton College and holds a Master of Divinity and doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Fuller Seminary. Prior to joining Menlo Church, John served as teaching pastor at Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago. John is a member of the Board of Trustees at Fuller Seminary, serves on the board for the Dallas Willard Center for Spiritual Formation, and is a former board member of Christianity Today International.
