Meet the Band

General Information 

If you are a high school woodwind, brass or percussion player, don’t miss the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Gordon Symphonic Band for a night! This will be an immersive and impactful experience that will give you insight into college music-making and inspire you for your continuing music journey.

The concert repertoire is an international program including: Joropo by Moliero; Puszta by van der Roost; Symphonic Prelude “The Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer” by Camphouse; and others. You will be able to perform with us on the Joropo and a march by Fillmore, Americans, We.

Participating in this special visit day will give you the opportunity to:

• Take an in-depth tour of the Phillips Music Center
• Receive information about our music programs
• Learn from Gordon’s inspiring conductor, Dr. Gabe Southard, and applied lesson instructors by playing in a rehearsal with the Symphonic Band
• Meet music students at your complimentary dinner at the College’s spectacular dining facility
• Perform in the Symphonic Band concert that evening

If you are a woodwin, brass or percussion player and would like to rehearse and perform with the Gordon Symphony Orchestra for a night, please register by September 27.

After your registration, Dr. Southard will personally reach out to you and provide you with music and practice resources to prepare for the concert.

General Schedule

To get the full College experience, we recommend that you book your overnight stay with a Gordon music student and also register to attend Explore Gordon + Music Track on October 9.

Deadlines

Registration deadline to play with the Band: All registrations must be received by September 27.

Registration to join us for the event without playing in the Band: All registrations must be received by October 6.
