Orientation Packing List

THINGS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:

• Bedding (we recommend Twin XL sheets, pillow, blankets, etc.)
• Towels and washcloths
• Shower caddy and shower sandals
• Electric fan
• Hangers
• Laundry basket/bag
• HE (high-efficiency)-only laundry detergent
• Small wastebasket/recycle bin
• Extension cords (UL listed and 14-gauge or heavier)
• Surge-protected power strip(s)
• Reusable water bottle

THINGS YOU MIGHT WANT TO BRING:

• Plastic crates or storage bin(s)
• Plants, posters and other approved decoration items
• Steam iron and clothes rack
• Approved Sticky Tack, thumbtacks or small nails (no tape, picture hangers or decals allowed)
• TV and gaming system
• EnergyStar refrigerator 3.6 cubic feet or smaller (must be plugged directly into wall outlet; will be checked by RA)
• Secure lock for bicycle (U-lock)
• A few dishes and personal eating utensils,cup, mug, etc.
• Small personal coffee maker with auto shut-off
• Mattress pad or topper

THINGS YOU CANNOT BRING:

• Drapes, curtains or other window treatments
• Pets other than goldfish or tropical fish (aquarium limited in size to less than 20 gallons with stand); must have agreement of roommate(s)
• Microwaves, hot plates, toasters (each hall has a microwave)
• Waterbeds
• Incandescent, high-wattage lights, CFL bulbs, non-approved Christmas lights
• Candles or incense
• Combustible decor: potpourri, dried flowers,paper-based plants
• Large furniture, couches, wall storage units
• Posters or decor that encourages or supports violation of Gordon’s Statement of Life and Conduct (alcohol promotions or containers, sexually-suggestive advertisement or posters, profane banners or flags, etc.)
• Stowaway siblings/friends (just checking!)

IN CASE YOU FORGET ANYTHING . . .

Don’t worry. If you get here and need something there are plenty of local stores and shops to meet your needs including CVS Pharmacy, local hardware stores, Staples, Target, Best Buy and clothing and grocery stores.
