Every year, close to 150 students from many majors at Gordon College contribute in different ways to the Department of Music. The Department prides itself on maintaining a campus-wide presence and serving the whole Gordon community with the gift of music. The annual Christmas Gala, numerous free concerts for the public (such as the Faculty Artist Series and student Ensemble concerts), and community offerings such as Music Mania and the Children’s Choir, are just a few examples of the Department of Music’s unique ability to bless the many people who walk through the doors of the Phillips Music Center and A.J. Gordon Chapel.
The Department of Music welcomes students of all majors to participate in its Ensembles. Participation in a Department of Music ensemble for four semesters will fulfill the Fine Arts core requirement. Additionally, students of all majors may audition for Ensemble Participation Scholarships! These are special scholarships awarded to non-music majors only.
Students of all majors may sign up for non-credit applied lessons with instructors and faculty from the Department of Music. Students who are not music majors but wish to take applied lessons for credit (2 credits each semester) must first audition for the Department of Music faculty to assess eligibility. Please contact [email protected] for further information about the sign-up process. Fees apply for applied lessons.
Numerous music classes also fulfill the Fine Arts core requirement, and we welcome students from any major to enroll in these popular offerings:
