In a world of division and conflict, the need for defenders of justice in our nation’s legal system is greater than ever. Whether you’re interested in pursuing a career in law, policy analysis, public administration or another field, the Law and Public Policy concentration will offer you deeper expertise and a competitive advantage for postgraduate opportunities. Come study alongside our accomplished faculty and develop your Christ-like calling to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly in a life of public service.
Law & public policy is one of two concentrations offered for political science majors.
Through the lens of a Christian liberal arts education and under the tutelage of well trained and highly engaged faculty members, you’ll learn how Christians can pursue political office as a means to love our neighbors––even the ones we disagree with––and establish fair legislation that ensures justice for all. You will have the opportunity to intern in a law office or government agency, allowing you to further your understanding of the field and forge a professional network.
This concentration will prepare you for the work of peacemaking through professions in a variety of fields, including diplomatic, educational, nonprofit, corporate and more:

Law and public policy students are not only involved in on-campus organizations, such as the Gordon College Student Association (Gordon’s version of student government), but are active in the community and on Capitol Hill. They intern in places like the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, the Supreme Court and the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, as well as in law firms on the North Shore and in Boston.
Most law and public policy students study abroad in Zagreb, Croatia, through the Balkans Semester for the Study of War and Peace—a program wonderfully suited for this concentration. Gordon also partners with a sister school in Washington, D.C. for an off-campus semester program on Capitol Hill.
