In the fall of 1999, Rhodes Gymnasium (named in honor of Edgar L. Rhodes, a generous supporter and member of the board of trustees from 1916–1930) became the Barrington Center for the Arts, one of the most modern centers for the performing and visual arts north of Boston. The building was named in honor of Barrington College, which merged with Gordon in 1985.
