Career Achievement Descriptions

Collect $1,500

Students are eligible to win a $1,500 career scholarship if they complete the entire Gordonopoly board. There will be one winner announced in the spring. You have until this December to complete everything—but remember, you can only win prizes during September!

Activate Your Handshake Profile 

To activate your Handshake profile, go to gordon.joinhandshake.com and log in using your Gordon credentials. If you’ve already logged into your Handshake account at a prior date, you’ll automatically receive credit for this task. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.

Fill Out Your Job Preferences 

Log into Handshake and click on your profile in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Complete the “Your Interests” section and click "Save" to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.

Discover Your STRENGTHS 

Review the “CliftonStrengths for Students” module resource in the Career and Connection Institute course on Canvas. Then, email [email protected] to request an access code to receive credit. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Get Involved With Extracurriculars 

Log into Handshake and go to your profile. Complete the “Organizations and Extracurriculars” section of your profile to receive credit for this achievement. If you have already done this at a prior date, you will automatically receive credit. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Add Experience to Your Profile

Log into Handshake and go to your profile. Complete the “Work and Volunteer Experience” section of your profile to receive credit for this achievement. If you have already done this at a prior date, you will automatically receive credit. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.

Fill Out Past Courses and Special Skills 

Log into Handshake and go to your profile. Complete the “Courses” and “Skills” sections of your profile to receive credit for this achievement. If you have already done this at a prior date, you will automatically receive credit. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Post a Professional Headshot 

Upload your headshot to your LinkedIn profile, connect with CCI on LinkedIn, and email [email protected] to receive credit for this achievement. There will be opportunities throughout the month of September to receive a new free headshot. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Update Your Resume 

Log into Handshake and go to your profile. In the “Documents” section, upload your resume as a private document to receive credit for this achievement. If you don't have a resume or would like to refine it, you can visit our "Craft the Perfect Resume" module in the Career and Connection Institute course in Canvas.

If you have already done this at a prior date, you will automatically receive credit. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.  

Optimize Your LinkedIn 

Complete the “Optimize Your LinkedIn” module in the Career and Connection Institute course on Canvas to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Learn Informational Interviewing

Complete the “Learn Informational Interviewing” module in the Career and Connection Institute course on Canvas to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.

Follow 5 Interesting Employers 

In the “Jobs” section on Handshake, click on the “Employers” tab. Follow 5 interesting employers and email [email protected] with their names to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Search for Internships/Jobs 

Complete the “Navigate the Internship and Job Search” module in the Career and Connection Institute course on Canvas to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Meet with CCI Career Peer 

Set up a meeting with a CCI “Career Peer” either by emailing CCI or by requesting an appointment on Handshake. To receive credit, you must meet with a “Career Peer” in-person or via Zoom. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Research Companies Attending Career Fair 

Review the companies that are attending the career fair and register for the event on Handshake. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Demonstrate How to Dress for Success 

Post a picture of your career fair outfit on Instagram and tag @cci_gordon in your story or post. DM CCI your full name in order to recieve credit. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Attend Virtual Career Fair Sept. 17 

Attend and check into the Virtual Career Fair event on Handshake. The best way to participate is to attend at least one live group session, and schedule at least one 1:1 session with a representative. This task must be completed on September 17th.

Participate in CliftonStrengths Deep Dive 

Complete the “CliftonStrengths Deep Dive” module in the Career and Connection Institute course on Canvas to receive credit for this achievement. This task must be completed on any time during Gordonopoly. 

Send Career Thank You Notes 

Send thank you notes to the representatives you spoke with during the Virtual Career Fair. To receive credit for this achievement, post a picture of your notes on Instagram and tag @cci_gordon in your story or post. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Develop an Elevator Pitch 

Complete the “Develop an Elevator Pitch” module in the Career and Connection Institute course on Canvas to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Develop Interviewing Skills 

Complete the “Develop Networking Skills” module in the Career and Connection Institute course on Canvas to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Connect with an Alumni in your Field 

On LinkedIn, search for alumni within your field. Connect with at least two of them and email [email protected] with their name(s) to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Gather Four References 

Request four references by email. To receive credit for this achievement, email CCI with the list of names that you sent emails to. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Personalize Your Cover Letter 

Complete the “Personalize Your Cover Letter” module in the Career and Connection course on Canvas to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Attend Calling and Career Conference Sept. 26 

Register for and attend the “Calling and Career Conference” event on Handshake to receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.

Complete/Register an Internship 

Register an internship for credit under your department or the CCI425 0-credit course, if you have already done this, you will automatically receive credit for this achievement. If you have completed an internship in the spring or summer of 2020 but have not registered it for credit, you may email [email protected] to inform us and you will receive credit for this achievement. If you will be completing an internship this fall or upcoming spring, you may email [email protected] to inform us of your internship and you will receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.  

Register for Vocational Course 

Register for your department’s vocational course or the new GEN371 Vocational Seminar. If you are already registered for any of these courses, you will automatically receive credit for this achievement. If you intend to take one of these courses in the spring, you can email [email protected] to express that intent and you will receive credit for this achievement. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Build Career Roadmap with a CCI Career Coach 

Set up a meeting with a CCI Career Coach either by emailing CCI or by requesting an appointment on Handshake. To receive credit, you must meet with a CCI Career Coach in-person or via Zoom. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly. 

Submit Your Success Story 

Record a video or write us a story and email [email protected] explaining how your career development journey has helped you accomplish goals like improving your interviewing, redirecting your career path, or landing an internship or job. You will receive credit for this achievement when we receive the email. You can complete this task any time during Gordonopoly.
