The Gordon College Choir (directed by Assistant Professor of Music Jamie Hillman) is a contestant on season 2 of WGBH's television show Sing That Thing!—a talent showcase to find the best choir ensembles in Greater Boston. Following online auditions and in-studio performances for a panel of judges, Season 2's final 24 singing groups were selected. These semifinalists include choirs from Yale, Williams, Bates, Emerson and UMass. During the taping at the WGBH Boston studio, the Gordon Choir sang "Litany" by international composer Jeff Enns. To prepare for the show, Hillman reached out to Enns to give the choir an opportunity to workshop the piece directly with the composer via Skype. Though the Choir maintains a busy performance schedule, from concert halls in New England to performances in European countries, this is the first time many in the ensemble have performed in a televised contestant-style competition on PBS. Sing That Thing! premiered April 1 and airs Fridays at 8:30 p.m. on WGBH. As season 2 progresses, the finalists will compete in elimination rounds before a live studio audience—each round with a novel twist—culminating in an exciting live broadcast in which the members of the TV audience can vote for their favorite group via phone, mobile device, and desktop computer. The winning choir will receive a $10,000 grand prize, and an additional $5,000 will be donated to a music education program of their choice. Watch Sing That Thing! online (episodes will be available online after they air). Be on the lookout for the Gordon College Choir's first appearance in the weeks ahead and follow Sing That Thing! on Facebook. WGBH is PBS’s single largest producer for television, the Web, and mobile.  As Boston's local public broadcaster, WGBH serves New England with 11 public television services, three public radio services, and local productions that reflect the issues and cultural riches of our region.
