Kinesiology experiment in lab

Kinesiology

Overview

From muscular forces that propel your body into motion to oxygen delivery from the heart and lungs, human movement is fascinatingly complex. A kinesiology degree is a gateway to diverse careers that promote health and wellness, all underpinned by a profound understanding of the human body.

At Gordon, you’ll complete a scientifically rigorous, faith-based curriculum focused on human movement and its relationship to health for exceptional preparation in allied health fields and graduate school. As you engage in hands-on learning with real patients, you’ll investigate how movement is impacted by disease, age, injury and other factors. You can further enhance your learning by choosing a concentration in Professional Kinesiology, Exercise & Rehabilitation Sciences and Fitness & Wellness.

Why study kinesiology at Gordon?

In our state-of-the-art anatomy and physiology lab, you’ll have the distinct advantage of studying human cadavers as an undergraduate student. In our kinesiology lab, you’ll engage in experiential learning including EKG treadmill testing and Vicon Nexus motion capture.

Our location just north of Boston—one of the world’s healthcare epicenters—can give you real-world experiences at leading facilities. Our students work at Gordon’s Center for Balance and Mobility and Wellness and Bennett Athletic Center as well as Harmeling Physical Therapy and hospitals throughout the area.

What can Christians bring to kinesiology?

The Bible tells us we are created in the image of God, and our bodies can serve as His temples. Christians in the field of kinesiology can use their professional skills to help bring healing, fitness and wellness opportunities to all people.
