Healthcare access and quality, climate change, global poverty, energy production: We believe in the power of science to solve the pressing issues of our day. In fact, as a Christian college we view it as our responsibility to equip you in your scientific and mathematical giftings to alleviate suffering and bring about flourishing. The faculty of Gordon College’s School of Science and Health faculty are active, accomplished scholars and committed Christians who embrace big conversations and cutting-edge knowledge. So, whether you plan to pursue pre-med, data science or environmental sustainability, you will be prepared to be a steward of hope for the good of God’s creation.
HIGHLIGHTS
At Gordon learning happens hands-on—in campus research labs, around our rich location on the North Shore of Boston and along the nearby Biomedical Corridor. You may follow the footsteps of Gordon students who have interned at places like NOAA, New England Biolabs, the Massachusetts Audubon Society, the Boston Museum of Science and Cell Signaling Technologies. You may also gain on-campus experience in the anatomy and physiology lab (a rare experience for undergrads); the Center for Balance, Mobility and Wellness; or a computer science summer practicum.
From the very beginning of your Gordon experience, you’ll be known and supported by your personal advisor, professors and peers. Thanks to Gordon’s low student-to-faculty ratio, faculty are accessible and invested—meaning you might be personally mentored by a leading voice on climate change, a Fulbright Scholar or a National Science Foundation-funded physicist. Students have worked alongside faculty in collaborations with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston University and MIT. Our highly sought-after network of alumni have strong graduate school placement rates and careers at places like Raytheon, Microsoft, Elucida and more.

"The School of Science and Health provides meaningful and experiential opportunities for students, with classroom, research and internship experiences led by thoughtful faculty in a collaborative community. We emphasize real-life solutions to real-world problems, informed by our faith and driven by our understanding of scientific and mathematical principles. As a student, you will be engaged with faculty members, mentors, advisors and other students to help you find your passion and vocational direction in whatever field you embrace, whether it is protein analysis, medical innovation, wildlife ecology, biomechanics, green chemistry, operations research or data wrangling. You will find your place here among passionate and welcoming colleagues."

“I had no experience with coding before college; Gordon helped me start from the ground up to become someone who can do the job and do it at a good level. Some of the extracurricular courses at Gordon related to the computer science major challenged and taught me the most, like internet programming and mobile programming. These courses were project-based, with huge projects to do on your own, from beginning to end. That’s how I work now at a real job.”
