Human Services

Overview

The Human Service minor is the starting point for several careers. The minor introduces you to social issues, ethics, diversity, family dynamics, human behavior and the systems in place to address them. It paves the way for careers that build and strengthen individuals, families and communities. Your human service courses use an ecological framework that conceptualizes small and large client system’s interaction within their environment.

Why study human services at Gordon?

Our dedicated faculty will help you develop a broad-based understanding of America’s social welfare problems and social policies while also ensuring you learn successful practice methods used by today’s social welfare workers through the compassionate lens of a Christian liberal arts education.

What can Christians bring to human services?

Christians in the fields of human services can meet people in their place of need and explore ways to alleviate some of their hardships. By approaching every case and situation as an opportunity to work on mission, Christians can put their faith into practice and serve as a shining light in some of the world’s darkest moments.
