Youth Ministries

Overview

We believe Christ is moving among rising generations for “such as time as this” (Esther 4:14) in New England and beyond. We can work faithfully and effectively with young people to share God’s love and empower them to become difference-makers for Christ.

With a youth ministries minor from Gordon College, you’ll be prepared with relevant theories and expertise to journey with rising generations throughout their second decade of life. Here you’ll be challenged to think critically, creatively and strategically as you engage with youth in churches, Christian schools, para-church organizations and other community gatherings.

Why study youth ministry at Gordon?

Gordon’s Christian ministries faculty are committed to ensuring that you not only study about ministry during your time at Gordon, but that you also engage in ministry in preparation for lifelong Christian service. Our faculty will lead you in an extensive study of Scriptures alongside theological reflection on faith and life. Learn to hear God’s voice, expand your vision of God’s world and extend compassion for those needing God’s love.

How can studying Youth Ministries help you be a difference-maker for Christ?

Become a difference-maker for Christ by bringing life-giving hope and healing as you help young people meet the challenges of our complex world. Engaging youth and supporting them in the initiatives they’re excited about is a roadmap for youth ministry today. Rising generations are spiritually curious and already building communities in their worlds, but they also seek adult mentors and want to talk about their hopes, fears, and passions.

My background and passion is really in youth work. At Gordon, professors didn’t hesitate to talk about difficult things and to really tackle issues head-on, but a foundation of Christian thought and practice grounded those discussions in hope.
