Marie is an educational psychologist who has been engaged in research on help-seeking since introduced to the topic by Barry J. Zimmerman in the early years of her doctoral research. After years of investigating help-seeking, standards-based education, teacher educational practices, she has turned her attention to self-regulation in the context of socialization and home-schooling. Her work also includes designing and teaching courses in diversity, social and emotional learning, anxiety-related behaviors, socialization, and benefits of homeschooling. With a degree in policy studies and private practice work in advocacy which spans over 40 years, Marie enjoys teaching courses related to special education, school law, and legal rights. Marie also serves on the board of the CAUSE, a national group founded to support educators and administrators engaged in challenging areas of teaching and learning,
