Community and Belonging at Gordon
At Gordon College, we are committed to shalom—a right ordering of relationships and actions resulting in the affirmation of human dignity and the flourishing of community. We believe that human diversity as attested to in Scripture is one expressive element of shalom and is an essential component of a Christian learning community such as ours.
True diversity and inclusion come as a result of continually pursuing and prioritizing cross-cultural relationships and dialogue. To that end, our institutional mission guides our programs and student organizations to promote awareness of multicultural and social justice issues, create spaces where students, faculty and staff can grow through challenges, build relationships, and and learn to lead courageously.
Intercultural Engagement
The student body at Gordon is representative of 39 nations and is 32 percent multicultural and international. The Multicultural Initiatives Office and International Student Office are home to diverse student clubs and organizations, including Dear Neighbor, La Raza, Chinese Student Fellowship, A.F.R.O. Hamwe, La Raza and ASIA. From celebrating the Lunar New Year to dialoguing about how to embrace and care for one another, there are many opportunities at Gordon for you to express your own cultural identity and develop stronger intercultural literacy.
