Humanities Education

Overview

Empower young minds to explore the human experience with Gordon College's Master of Education (M.Ed.) in humanities (grades 5–8). Our program prepares aspiring and current educators for initial or professional licensure, providing them with a strong foundation in literature, history and related humanities disciplines, along with pedagogical skills to effectively engage middle school students. 

A Journey Through History and Literature

Our comprehensive curriculum delves into the rich tapestry of human history and literary expression. Explore diverse literary works through courses like Literature for Adolescents, Poetry and Literary Analysis, General Linguistics and Literature of Immigrant Communities in the U.S. Develop a deep understanding of historical events and their impact through courses such as The History of Massachusetts: 1620-1865, the Romantic Period and the Ancient Roman World. Our interdisciplinary approach will empower you to create engaging and relevant learning experiences for your students.
