Communication Sciences & Disorders

Overview

Are you ready to combine academic excellence with compassionate service? Our Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) major is a pre-professional program that cultivates caring clinicians who can offer hope and healing to children and adults struggling with the complexities of speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders.

Drawing from both the arts and sciences, our faith-based, interdisciplinary approach will build your listening and communication skills. You’ll be well-prepared for graduate school or for immediate work in one of U.S. News & World Report’s top 100 jobs as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) or audiology assistant.

Why study communication sciences and disorders at Gordon?

With demand for SLPs projected to grow 18 percent and audiologists 11 percent by 2033, Gordon is the only Christian college in New England offering this major. Gordon provides a unique integration of faith, ethics and evidence-based practice, preparing students to address the complexities of this field and positioning them for immediate roles as SLP assistants or entry into prestigious graduate programs.

Our faculty bring both clinical expertise and a Christian perspective to the classroom. They also offer personalized advising to help you tailor your learning journey with minors, internships or study abroad opportunities.

What can Christians bring to the field of communication sciences and disorders?

Christians who’ve focused in CSD can minister to the communicative needs of people of all ages by demonstrating God’s love and care for those who struggle and feel unseen. Christians can lead the way in an industry that not only needs professionals but also needs compassionate leaders who combine practical skills with thoughtful care.
