BILLING AND CANCELLATION POLICY

All students pay the First-Year Experience Fee before starting at Gordon. This fee includes the cost of doing Discovery or La Vida. You are welcome to choose whichever course best fits your needs. An overnight camping trip is part of the class. Since most of these expenses are incurred in preparation for the Discovery course, the following policies are in place:

  • Students are allowed to drop Discovery during add/drop period of Quad 1 if their schedule changes. They must add Discovery Quad 2 at that time or plan to sign up for Discovery or La Vida the next semester.
  • Students cannot drop without La Vida Center permission for Quad 2 and Quad 4.
  • If a student registers for Discovery and drops after the add/drop period on their own or with permission, the following policy is in place:
    • Withdrawing after the add/drop period and during the 2nd week of classes incurs a $50 late withdrawal fee.
    • Withdrawing between the 3rd and 4th week of classes incurs a $100 late withdrawal fee.
    • Withdrawing during or after the 5th week of classes incurs a $200 late withdrawal fee.

Students must email the La Vida Office at if they are considering whether or not to drop Discovery. La Vida or Discovery is required as part of the First-Year Experience, and the student must complete paperwork with the La Vida Office indicating why a drop is imperative and when the student plans to meet the outdoor education requirement.
