Chemistry

Overview

Are you a curious, analytical thinker with a propensity for understanding how substances interact? Use your knack for math and science to tackle real-world problems like water purification, crime scene investigation and prescription drug creation.

Whether you plan to be in the field or in the lab, a degree in chemistry will prepare you for a career in professional research, applied science in a range of industries or graduate education. You’ll also refine your skillset to become an effective communicator, collaborator and leader—important traits in any field.

Why study chemistry at Gordon?

Motivated by our call to be good stewards of God’s creation, Gordon is a founding member of the Green Chemistry Education Network and has been a pioneer in the field of green chemistry—meaning we practice sustainable chemistry that is safe for humans and the environment.

Situated just north of Boston—one of the world’s biotechnology and healthcare epicenters—Gordon students have opportunities for critical hands-on learning and internships. You’ll also be mentored by our expert faculty who specialize in areas like Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Pharmacology.

What can Christians bring to chemistry?

By intermingling common chemistry principles with the Christian worldview, Christ-centered chemists can work on mission to be good stewards of all resources, provide safe human health and better care for the environment.
