Brian Vander Haak, EdD, served in Christian schools for 30 years in Washington DC (Maryland), Tokyo, and Taipei. Though passionate about teaching humanities, most of his educational career focused on administrative assignments including facilities coordinator, technology coordinator, learning coach, team leader (various portfolios), HS principal, and Head of School. He worked extensively on curriculum, pedagogy, and technology initiatives in all these schools. In addition to being involved with all aspects of personnel hiring and supervision, he provided specialized training and mentoring for teachers, administrators, boards, and parents. He guided school communities through significant crises including 911, the anthrax scare, and the Beltway sniper in DC, the historic 3-11 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster in Japan, and COVID-19 in Taiwan. He is now semi-retired and living in the countryside near Lynden, Washington.
