About:
Rev Bob Whittet is a professor of Christian ministries and also serves as the Chaplain of Gordon College. During the 2019-20 academic year, he served as the Interim Chaplain before being appointed to the role of Chaplain during the spring of 2020. Bob brings years of ministry experience to his work in the chapel as well as to the classroom with his students. A strong supporter of missions, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience gained leading mission experiences both in South America and Europe. Staying tightly connected to the work of the local church, Bob serves as the part-time missions pastor at Bethany Church in Greenland, NH. Within the Christian Ministries major, one of Bob’s responsibilities is to supervise student placement in their academic practicums. These experiences give students practical hands-on experience in a ministry for 400 hours. Bob’s connections and contacts in ministry both domestically and internationally, assist students in finding fulfilling practicum experiences which focus on their ministry trajectory.
Bob was a contributor to the Jesus Centered Bible, (Group Publishing) which helps people discover how all of scripture points to the life and work of Jesus. He also serves on various boards which span academia and the church. He is currently the chairman of the board of Christian Education Ministries, a division of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC. CEM is an organization which produces and provides curricular resources to the local church, as well as camp and conference experiences. Among his favorite camp responsibilities and experiences within the work of CEM is Camp Joy, a camp which ministers to the needs of those with cognitive challenges. Camp Joy has grown during Bob’s tenure as chairman of the CEM board to now include active camps in NC, SC, FL, VA, and TN. Bob also serves as treasurer on the board of the Society of Professors in Christian Education. SPCE is an academic association which gathers educators for the presentation of research in the field of Christian Education. He is also a longtime member of the Association of Youth Ministry Educators.
Bob and his wife, Jean, reside in Rye, NH and find great joy in their lives celebrating their four grown children and their growing families, including six grandchildren.
