Overview
Immerse yourself in a vibrant and dynamic artistic community that encourages creativity; fosters innovation; and equips you with advanced conceptual, spatial, analytical and technical skills.
Gordon College’s 3D design studio minor explores the development of physical spaces and objects, such as everyday products (industrial design, furniture design) and built environments (architecture, interior design, landscape architecture). You’ll learn technologies and techniques such as 3D modeling, 3D printing, laser cutting and carpentry. From metal to hardwood and everything in between, you’ll graduate ready to bring your imaginative concepts and artistic creations to life.
Why study 3D design at Gordon?
Few other Christians colleges offer 3D design studies. Our in-house, expert artists will have you thinking bigger than you ever thought possible, discovering great joy in the design process as you mimic the creative work of our Creator. When you roll up your sleeves in Gordon’s studio, you’ll be preparing to launch into your career with a strong portfolio, channeled passion and tools to thrive, while also growing in your faith and vocation as a co-creator with God.
Our location on Boston’s picturesque North Shore offers easy access to a rich collection of galleries and museums, as well as regular student trips to Boston and New York.
What can Christians bring to 3D design?
We were made to be makers, and creating art brings us closer to the heart of God’s creativity. Christians in design can seek to emulate God’s way of creating with beauty, purpose and functionality by exploring human-centered, sustainable and inclusive designs that bring dignity to human life and respect for God’s creation.

"The design program [at Gordon] taught me how to start from scratch. That serves as an extremely valuable lesson to me now in the start-up world, where things change every day, and the message I am building through my design needs to be tailored for different audiences."
