Opportunities for all majors
Every year, close to 150 students from many majors at Gordon College contribute in different ways to the Adams School of Music and the Arts. The Adams School prides itself on maintaining a campus-wide presence and serving the whole Gordon community with the gift of music arts. The annual Christmas Gala, numerous free concerts for the public (such as the Faculty Artist Series and student Ensemble concerts), theatre productions, and community offerings such as Music Mania and the Children’s Choir are just a few examples of the school's unique ability to bless the many people who walk through the doors of the Phillips Music Center, A. J. Gordon Chapel and Black Box Theatre.
Ensembles
The Music program welcomes students of all majors to participate in its Ensembles. Participation in a music ensemble for four semesters will fulfill the Fine Arts core requirement. Additionally, students of all majors may audition for Ensemble Participation Scholarships! These are special scholarships awarded to non-music majors only.
Theatre Productions
Auditions for theatre productions are open to campus. View upcoming performances.
Gordon in Orvieto
This study abroad program aims to foster responsive looking, listening and creating by engaging the traditions lived out by artists, poets, and saints of the past, especially those of Italy. Take advantage of this incredible opportunity to travel overseas and experience creativity and art like never before.
Applied Music Lessons
Students of all majors may sign up for non-credit applied lessons with instructors and faculty from the Music program. Students who are not music majors but wish to take applied lessons for credit (2 credits each semester) must first audition for the Music faculty to assess eligibility. Please contact [email protected] for further information about the sign-up process. Fees apply for applied lessons.
Children's Choir
We nurture student musicianship, build confidence, and encourage artistic expression through developmentally appropriate vocal instruction. The Children's Choir provides an ensemble experience that allows students to develop musically as individuals while contributing to the joy and artistry of singing together with their peers.
Music Mania
Music Mania encourages students grades Pre-K–6 to explore basic concepts such as pitch matching, healthy use of the singing voice and proper technique for classroom instruments. Students are introduced to musical theater, symphonic music, theory, world music and listening.
