Sustainable Gordon

Gordon College has a long-standing commitment to reducing human impact on the environment and climate environmentally, economically and socially.

Gordon staff, students, and faculty are tackling issues of sustainability and resource efficiency and working toward solving large-scale ecological challenges. With support and guidance from the Gordon College Sustainability Committee, Gordon has been featured on the Princeton Review's "Green" College list every year since 2013.

The campus's rich natural environment, with its many acres of protected wetlands, is an excellent training ground for students interested in sustainability and environmental protection. Gordon College’s commitment to sustainability is led by Restore Creation—an initiative led by the Physical Plant staff that also includes faculty, staff and students. Restore Creation strives to create a culture that cares about the environment and practices sustainability.

We invite you to explore our actions, commitments, and initiatives, and to share your ideas for making Gordon College, and society, more sustainable. Please email thoughts and suggestions to [email protected].

Composting

Composting is the process of breaking down waste and nourishing the ground once again.

Restore Creation Commitment

Gordon College’s commitment to sustainability is fearlessly led by Restore Creation, an initiative led by the Physical Plant Department that also involves faculty, staff and students. This group strives to create a culture that cares about the environment and practices sustainability. Restore Creation does this by recycling as many products as possible, reducing as many wasteful practices as possible, re-using and encouraging others to re-use as much as possible, promoting and sustaining awareness of these practices and leading sustainability events to encourage and inform students

Restore Creation is a culture on campus. It’s found in every corner and crevice: in the library, at the dining hall, in conversation, in everyday practices. It is an undercurrent that guides the College’s views on all that it does. But ultimately, the driving force behind this commitment is to honor and glorify God and to care for his creation, which he entrusted to our care.
