MIO exists to care holistically for Gordon’s diverse, multicultural student body. Partnering with the larger Gordon community, we provide academic, emotional and spiritual support to students of color through programs, events, community-building activities and mentoring by staff and faculty.
At Gordon College, we are committed to shalom—a right ordering of relationships and actions resulting in the affirmation of human dignity and the flourishing of community. We believe that human diversity as attested to in Scripture is one expressive element of shalom and is an essential component of a Christian learning community such as ours. True diversity and inclusion come as a result of continually pursuing and prioritizing cross-cultural relationships and dialogue. To that end, our programs and student organizations seek to promote awareness of multicultural and social justice issues, create spaces where students can feel comfortable and build relationships, and provide opportunities for leadership development.
